We suggest if you are unsure of the look or positioning of the hardware on your door that you purchase some 2 sided tape and temporary place the hardware on the door and step back and look at it from the street. This allows you to make minor changes before drilling holes in your door. It also makes marking the holes and drilling them much easier and frees up your hands. Some kits actually are magnetic and do not require a mechanical means of fastening. When installing the screws into your hinges and handles we recommend you use just a normal screwdriver. Power screwdrivers tend to remove the black finish from the screws and can sometimes strip out the steel.
 Some best practices when choosing your designs. If you have a double-wide garage door you may want to ad 2 kits to the door for the appearance of 2 single doors. This technique is very popular when you have a three-car garage that includes one double wide door and a single-wide door. Also choose a size hinge that is not too small or large for your garage door. If you have standard 16’ or 18’ wide doors x 7’ high a 16” long hinges is very popular. They finishes are designed to hold up in extreme heat and cold environments and standard care and maintenance should be applied. We always recommend you wash your garage door inside and out especially the bottom panels at least 2 times a year. Taking this step will prolong the finish of your hardware and also extend the life of your door.
