How to install the belt splice kit 41B5669, 29B129 and 29B130

Shortening belt kits
To install your garage door opener in an area where space is limited, you will need to cut and remove several inches from the belt. After cutting the belt, a shortening kit is needed to complete the installation. There are 2 types of shortening kits depending on the belt you system uses. To ensure you order the correct one, measure a 6" section of the belt. If your belt has 20 teeth, use kit 41B5669. If your belt has 13 teeth, use kit 29B129 and 29B130.

Before you begin, determine the amount of space available to install your system, this will provide us with information on how much rail needs to be removed from your system.
1. Measure the distance from the wall where the header bracket installs to the obstruction, generally this is a beam which is the cause for this modification.
2. Assemble the rail, attach the rail to the motor unit, and then attach the header bracket to the rail.
3. Measure the overall length of the garage door opener from the header bracket to back of motor unit.
4. Subtract the difference between your available space and overall length of garage door opener.
5. This is the amount of rail you need to remove to install your garage door opener. Make sure to cut the end section of the rail where the tabs are which hold the rail together during the installation (female end). These are only there during installation and are not necessary one unit is installed.
6. Locate the belt end which uses the master link to connect to the trolley threaded rod. Including the clip measure the amount of belt you need to cut. For every inch of rail you cut you need to cut 2" off the belt. For example if you cut 6" of rail, cut 12" of belt.

NOTE: It is important to mention if you have cut more than 8" of rail, your door may not open completely and hang down in the path of a vehicle. If you have an SUV or high profile vehicle, the bottom of the door may come in contact with the top of the vehicle. If this is the case, you may want to consider installing an RJO model.

Important: The length that you remove from the rail will lessen the distance that the door will open. For example: A standard opener will open a door from 7 to 7-1/2 feet. If you cut 6 inches from the rail, the door will only open 6-1/2 to 7 feet.

Installing the shortening kit 41B5669
1. Your shortening kit includes 2 pieces, a flat piece with an eye and a second piece shaped like a C.
2. Place the piece shaped like a C against the teeth on the end of the belt.
3. Place the flat piece against the smooth side of the belt.
4. Before you bend the tabs on the kit, ensure the flat piece with the hole is points away from the belt; this piece needs to attach to the trolley.
5. Once both pieces are firmly place, use channel lock pliers to bend the tabs inward to secure in place.

Installing the shortening kit 29B129 and 29B130
1. Your shortening kit includes 2 pieces, a flat piece with an eye and a second piece shaped like a C.
2. Place the flat piece with the bumps against the teeth of the belt.
3. Place the C piece against the belt, ensure the holes aligned and point away from the belt, this piece needs to attach to the trolley.
4. Once both pieces are firmly place, use channel lock pliers to bend the tabs inward to secure in place.
